Big iron going for big money in 2018 – here's Ritchie Bros.' Top-5

1. 2006 Manitowoc 16000 440 ton self-erecting crawler crane – US$1.5 million
Coming in as our top selling construction equipment item for 2018 was this 2006 Manitowoc 16000 440-ton self-erecting crawler crane (lot # 3699V) that sold at our big Orlando, FL auction in February for US$1,500,000.

2. 2003 Demag AC700 700 ton all terrain crane – €1.07 million
In the number two spot for 2018 was this 2003 Demag AC700 700 ton 18x8x16 all terrain crane (lot #502) that sold at our September auction in Moerdijk, the Netherlands to a buyer from United Arab Emirates for €1,070,000 (approx. US$1.25 million).
3. Two 2017 Caterpillar 627K motor scrapers – US$1.44 million
Although cranes tend to dominate the top sellers in any year, there were plenty of other types of equipment that brought in big bucks in 2018, like these 2017 Caterpillar 627K motor scrapers. We sold two of them (lot #163 & 164) for a combined US$1,440,000 at our Denver, CO auction in August.

4. 2012 Hitachi EX1200-6 hydraulic excavator – US$675,000
We sold this 2012 Hitachi EX1200-6 hydraulic excavator (lot #614) at our two-day March auction in Fort Worth, TX for a Texas-sized price of US$675,000.
